Meet the adorable Kristen Bitting, a proud City Fitness member for over 2 years. This active and single Bucks County native is in love with City Fitness as much as she is with Philadelphia. We gave her the once-over about her workouts, and here is the 411 on Ms. Kristen’s fitness routine.

Why did you pick City Fitness as your gym?

When I first began looking for a new gym, my main concern was flexible hours and avoiding crowds. Most gyms in Center City have confined spaces, not enough equipment and happen to be over-priced. City Fitness offered everything that I needed, hours that work with my crazy schedule, plenty of space/machines, and was the most affordable. In addition, they offered a number of classes that many gyms do not have.


What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to City Fitness?

Before coming to City Fitness I would run only on occasion, outdoors. I was too over-worked and tired to go to the gym consistently because I was a full-time student, worked almost full-time and commuting from New York often. My lifestyle did not really allow me to focus on my well-being. After graduating college, I had more time to myself and decided my health was of utmost importance to me.

What are your fitness goals?

My promise to myself is to always incorporate fitness into my everyday life. Even if I do not make it to the gym, it doesn’t mean I cannot be active. I usually stick to routines and create positive habits for myself. No matter how busy I become or how old I get, I foresee myself always staying active and in good shape.

Describe your typical work-out

I prefer a heavy cardio work-out. I would say 80% of my work-out is cardio and 20% is weights/other. Regardless, I keep my heart rate elevated the entire time. Actually, I enjoy Yoga the most and I wish I could go more than once or twice a week. Not only does my body feel great after practicing but my state-of-mind is more at ease.

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to gym?

I think the body and the mind fall hand in hand. If you look good, you feel good and vice-versa. This is what motivates me to stay on top of my work-outs.

Workout music on your iPod?

I mix it up but some favorites are: Prodigy, Rage Against the Machine, Thievery Corporation, Cut Copy, LCD Soundsystem, Modest Mouse, Billy Idol, Busta Rhymes, Velvethead Lounge Podcasts etc. I like a lot of 80’s, classic rock and house/electronic music. Basically anything with a good beat, I like quality music…


What do you munch on for a healthy snack?

Sunkist protein smoothies, dried fruit and Cliff bars.

Favorite junk food?

Cheesecake

What is your guilty pleasure?

I get massages frequently. I’m always active so it is a nice way to unwind…
