Default Registering Your Nick In mIRC

below is information on how to register your nick using mIRC.

    /ns register PASSWORDHERE yourREAL@email.addy

You must replace PASSWORDHERE with the password you'd like to have. For example, /nickserv register letsplayfootsie yourREALemail@kiana.com . You MUST replace yourREALemail@kiana.com with your REAL email address because if you do not you might not be able to register your nickname.

After you register you can check to see if you did it right by typing "/ns info nickhere" (minus the quotes of course).

If you get the following message: "Nick is not registered", then you did not do it right. If you get a list that looks like sort of like the following:
    [01:15:31: p] -NickServ- `Wibot is doh
    [01:15:31: p] -NickServ- `Wibot is a services admin.
    [01:15:31: p] -NickServ- `Wibot is currently online.
    [01:15:31: p] -NickServ- Time registered: Jan 31 18:45:24 2008 CST
[01:15:31: p] -NickServ- Last quit message: Connection reset by peer

Then you did your registration right.

Now I am going to have you go through a series of steps to put your password command into mIRC perform area so it can identify your nick automatically for you.

First click on the hammer icon at the top located below "view". Now click on the "+" next to "Connect" then click on "Options" your window should look like the one below:

Now click on "Perform..." and a window should pop up that looks like this:

Make sure there is a check next to "Enable Perform on Connect". Then, click on "Add" next to the network dropdown list and choose RealityTVLounge from the list and click ok. Then in perform commands put "/ns identify password" (minus the quotes and replace password with your correct password that you used). When you are done it should look exactly like the window below (substituting your own password where lizardsrule is, of course.) Another command you may want to add for when you timeout and your nick stays in chat is the ghost command "/ns ghost LIZARDS lizardsrule" (put your nick in place of LIZARDS and your password in place of lizardsrule).

Now click ok. now whenever you connect to our network mIRC should id your nick for you.

Now two other helpful commands to know about in case you log off and then someone else decides to use your registered nick are "recover" which Kills another user who has taken your nick and the "release" command which Regains custody of your nick after RECOVER.

Recover command: "/ns recover LIZARDS lizardsrule"
Release command: "/ns release LIZARDS lizardsrule"
after you perform then then you can change to your nick and then id yourself using "/ns identify lizardsrule"

You can also put these commands in your alias section of mIRC. To get to the alias section you click on tools at the top then click on scripts editor then click on the alias tab. There should already be a bunch of commands already there just go to the bottom of the list and add them after those commands like so

    /id /nickserv identify lizardsrule
    /ghost /nickserv ghost LIZARDS lizardsrule
    /recover /nickserv recover LIZARDS lizardsrule
    /release /nickserv release LIZARDS lizardsrule

now remember I have used LIZARDS as the nick and lizardsrule as the password.
